A Letter from Our Founder

Welcome to Apaluma

If you’ve found your way to Apaluma, whether through a friend, a headline, or a shared concern, thank you. I’m Alicia J. Keyes, the CEO and founder. At Apaluma, we believe access to data makes a real difference.

I’m a first-time tech founder. That’s something I say with both humility and enthusiasm. I’ve spent most of my career working in media and public service, most recently as the Secretary of Economic Development for the State of New Mexico. In that role, I collaborated closely with multiple governmental agencies and one thing became incredibly clear: our biggest challenges are not caused by a lack of effort or desire, they are caused by a lack of access to data. Data is critical in making the right decisions.

What we’ve built at Apaluma is a platform that unifies government data - air, water, energy, light, noise, soil, waste, and more - and turns it into insight. Our goal is to empower everyone from city leaders to business owners and citizens to visualize, measure, and understand what’s happening around them in real time.

Apaluma is listening, learning, testing, and growing with key design partners around open data. We believe that transparency builds trust, and collaboration builds solutions.

Whether you’re here to explore, to partner, or to hold us accountable, I’m grateful you've found Apaluma. This is just the beginning, and I’m so glad you’re on the journey with us.

With gratitude,

Alicia J. Keyes
